We are now offering a new service call WHOIS Listing this will allow you to promote your domains to 1.6 million daily searchers. Whois Listing allows you to write whatever is important about your domain name, website, blog or business that viewers don’t find in the Whois. For instance, you could let people know that a domain is for sale, post business hours or list multiple domain names that your company uses. The regular Whois only shows the contact information of the domain name managers, e.g. registrant contact, administrative contact.

NEW - ID Protect

We are now offering a new service called ID Protect. ID Protect works in the same way as having your phone number "unlisted": it prevents people from gaining access to your address, phone number, and other private information.

ID Protect insures that your private contact information is not exposed. It is held in confidentiality and protected by the Domain Privacy Protection Service. Their contact information is displayed to provide you with the highest level of protection against spammers
and identity theft.

Without ID Protect, spammers can obtain your email address from harvesting and then use it for spamming purposes and redistribution to marketing firms. Your email address can stay on file with various spammers and marketing firms for years. Due to Webnetics dynamic email system, the visible email address is constantly changing, so while it is being harvested and redistributed, it will change and the previous address will no longer work for the spammer. The Domain Privacy Protection Service secures and maintains your real email address on file so you receive important information regarding your domain.

NEW - Affiliate Scheme

We are pleased to announce our new affiliate scheme. Enrolling in our affiliate scheme is free of charge and we supply a range of banner and button sizes to place on your Website. Automated System - CMS

On the 1st November, we went live with our automated system (Phase 2). There was some minor problems, as the dates where being re-synchronised between our local database and our remote servers and a crossover period with already issued invoices. These problems have now been resolved.

Contact Details

We would like to remind all our customers to keep their current contact details up to date, as this is very important. This information is used to keep your domain names up to date and also for renewing products.

Schedule Maintenance

We are planning to do a schedule maintenance upgrade on the 15-16th November and 22nd November 2008.

We will issue all our customers with a separate email explaining this Schedule Maintenance.

Domain Names

We would like to remind all our customers, if you wish to benefit from our new low prices for domain names. You will have to let us know 45 days in advance, before a domain name is renewed. So we are able to start transferring your domain name to our new gTLD registrar. We cannot transfer domain names once they fall within the 30 days renewal period.

NOTE: These prices are only available if paying online, and not via paper invoice.

dot-ME Domain Name

As of October, the dot-ME Registry has reduced the minimum requirement for a dot-ME domain name registration to a single year. This means customers can secure the most-popular new domain extension ever with just a one-year commitment, instead of two.

Reducing the two-year requirement to one-year, we think, this would open up the dot-ME domain names to more people and businesses who have been watching the new TLD grow and wondering if they should get involved. We have also bought a number of the dot-ME domain names ourselves and also for our existing and new customers. We have also seen this domain name now becoming one of our most popular domain names and our fastest selling domain name this year.

Client Management System

Following on from our last announcement in September 2008, we have now launched our new online Client Management System (CMS).

All customers who currently hold an account with us should have received an email stating how to access their account. If you have not received this email please contact us, or if any information held on the CMS is wrong. Please remember to keep your details up to date, as these will be used to keep your domain names up to date.

Client Management System

Following on from our last announcement in September 2008, we have now launched our new online Client Management System (CMS).

All customers who currently hold an account with us should have received an email stating how to access their account. If you have not received this email please contact us, or if any information held on the CMS is wrong. Please remember to keep your details up to date, as these will be used to keep your domain names up to date.

Data Centre – Server Move

The data centre move has taken much longer than we expected (Over 8 weeks). We have now completed transferring all our customers to our new servers. The old servers were switched off on the 9th September 2008.

Once again please accept our apologies and any inconvenience caused by this move.

Very Important - Client Management System

Following on from our last announcement in August 2008, we have now introduced a new online Client Management System (CMS v1.0 r1). The new Client Management System has been fully integrated into our new servers, support system and accounting systems and will also synchronies all data with our local server. All actions applied from within your account are processed in real time, from hosting account activation to domain name purchases, renewals, DNS changes, reports, downloads, software licensing and invoicing.

To access the Client Management System, we have assigned all our customers with their default email address as their username. To obtain your password, please select forgotten password option, and a new password will be sent to your default email address. You will then be able to gain access to the CMS.

This is due to be live on the 29th September 2008. We will be emailing all our customers, who currently hold an account with us, with more information on our CMS and their default email address to access the CMS.

PDA / Mobile Phone - CMS

We are currently working on two new versions, of our customer portal to be used on a PDA or mobile phone:

The PDA version will be written in Visual Basic using Windows mobile 2006 operating system, and the other one will be using IE 7, or a capability browser. Which would comply with [dot] mobi standards. You will have complete access to your account details while on the move, using a PDA or mobile phone. Internet access will be available using the GPRS network.

Website Designing for [dot] mobi Domain Name (Mobile Phones / PDA’s)

We will also be offering website designing for the [dot] mobi domain name(s), which is used for PDA / Mobile phones. All website designs will comply with the [dot] mobi standards. By using the [dot] mobi standard you will have access to more customers, who currently use a mobile phone / PDA to access the internet.

We are also working on [dot] mobi eCommerce versions of our software, so they can be accessed from Mobile phones / PDA’s. Which will be sold as an add-on module.

VrShop PRO 1.4 Beta (r1)

The first beta version of VrShop PRO v1.4 Beta (r1) will be released in October 2008. This update contains major changes and additions to the administration system login and authentication routines to provide extra security options, major changes and additional options for cart sessions, Protx VSP Direct support and several bug fixes.

As per our previous announcement, development, beta and release candidate versions of VrShop PRO are available to all users that either have a support level with us or are within the first six month of there license ownership, to qualify and gain access to the Virtual Web Designs Testing forums and our bug tracking system.

eShop PRO & Ultra v9 Support Discontinuation

As with all products, there comes a time when particular versions reach the end of their support life. We have already stopped support for versions 1.5 to 6.5, in March 2006. We will no longer be able to offer support for versions 7 to 9. Version 9 was originally released in October 2006. After the 31st October 2008 we will no longer be able to provide any support or patches for any version below 9.

The reason why we have taken this decision as php4 & MySQL 4 is no longer supported and as many ISP’s will no longer support php4. php5 & MySQLi 5 is now the industry standard and we no longer have php4 installed on our servers, the only patches we will apply are to the register_globals, so this can be switched off, as it’s currently set to on.

The amount of time required to convert existing eShop versions to the latest standards is not viable, as each version has been customised for each specific customer.

Customers who are currently on support contracts with us, we will send a separate email to those customers. From today we will no longer offering support contracts for eShop v9 and below.

NOTE: eShop & VrShop (100% php5) are not the same software.

eShop PRO XL5 & eShop Ultra XL5 – Under Development

We are currently working on a new version of eShop PRO and eShop Ultra, these new versions will only work on php5 and not on php4. The new versions will be called eShop PRO XL5 and eShop Ultra XL5.

The performance of the framework eShop PRO & eShop Ultra will improve by removing the php4 compatibility layer and by taking advantage of the new features php5 provides such as SimpleXML, DateTime, Iterators, and new core functions. The design and security of the Object Oriented framework will also improve by utilising the new features of the php5 Object Model.

Our new support policy for the XL5 series is to publish a release with new features every 6 months and to support each published release for 2 years. Removing the php4 compatibility layer now for the XL5 series allows us to focus only on php5 without the need to spend resources on php4 compatibility past its end of life cycle.

Because eShop PRO XL5 & eShop Ultra XL5 will be a substantial development effort, its progress will be broken into unique, defined stages. No time will be allotted to these stages because this is only to group different phases of development. We are hopping to have a new version out by the end of this year / January 2009.

New Data Centre – Server Move

We have currently transferred over 50% of our customers to our new data centre. The remainder will be transferred by the end of August 2008.

We apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused, by this move.

Domain Names

In June 2008 we became a UK Registrar for Nominet and have also secured a price agreement with a new supplier of General Top Level Domain Names (GTLD). So we are now able to offer a price reduction to all our customers. These new prices will start from August 1st 2008 and will apply to all our customers.

We are in the process of transferring all our UK domain names to our new IPS TAG WEBNETICSUK. If customers wish to take advantage of our new UK prices you will have to opt to pay online. If you wish to take advantage of the new GTLD prices, we will have to transfer you to our new registrar. There would be a transfer fee of £ 7.50, which is payable to the new registrar in return your current expire date would be extended by another year.

NOTE: These new prices will only apply to customers who opt to pay online, if not the current prices will still apply (Paper Invoices). Further information on our new CMS can be found later in this newsletter.

New Prices – Online Payments Only, invoices will be sent via email (No Paper Invoices)

All UK domain names will be £ 3.25 per year (2 years Minimum)
All General Top Level Domain Names will be £ 7.50 per year

Current Prices – Paper Invoices via Royal Mail

We are now able to offer a 256 Bit Personal SSL for a new lower price of £ 49 per year. We are able to offer this new lower price, as we have now changed our SSL issuing certification authority.

New Data Centre – Server Move

We will be changing our current data centre to a new data centre from July 2008. All our customers will be placed on new Xeon Dual Core servers running either Unix or Windows. The planned changeover will take effect from mid July to the end of August 2008.

We will be introducing a new control panel and webmail, all users will have greater control over there own hosting accounts. We will release more information, once the new servers have been setup and are working correctly.

On behalf of all clients we will be voluntarily offsetting the CO2 emissions caused by our servers in this new data centre.

The data centre currently uses a conservation charity World Land Trust as the organisation to carry out their offset. World Land Trust regenerates degraded forest in Ecuador, working through local partners. Planting native species on land next to standing forest not only takes CO2 out of the atmosphere it also extends existing wildlife reserves, thus preserving threatened habitat and biodiversity.

Nominet Registrar

Virtual Web Designs (Webnetics UK Ltd) has now become a member of Nominet enabling us to register all .uk domains for our customers. Our new IPS TAG will be WEBNETICSUK

We are in the process of writing new software to comply with Nominet Automation, EPP Systems and email PGP Encryption using our servers. Once the software has been completed Nominet will then test to make sure it complies with their rules. Once it has been approved by Nominet. Our IPS Tag will then be made active.

Search Engine Optimisation & Registration

Our search engine optimisation & registration service has also done very well last year and also looks like it going to be just as successful this year. All our customers who have signed up for this service have found their websites doing very well on Google, Yahoo, Msn, etc. We have also increased there Page Ranking and Alexa Ranking. Some of our customers are no longer paying for Google Ad words, saying then a lot of money. We have also increased the number of visitors by up to 65%. How do we know this is by using our own live tracking system. This records live stats in real time, unlike Google stats you don’t have to wait 24 hours for results. This will also tracks PHP websites, as well as static html pages. VrStats has been in beta testing for 1 year now and works very well. Using VrStats has helped us to target our clients websites to the right audience.

New software planned for 2008

Virtual Web Designs has some existing new software planned for this year. We have seen a gap in the market for high quality software at very affordable prices, under cutting a lot of the software supplies for bespoke software by up to ¾ in some cases. How de we achieve this? Over the last three years we have designed and developed software for various clients. We always try to design our software in modular format, so we can quickly put new software packages together at very low prices. This way the client does not pay for the development of new software. We are also planning to sell all our software from our new site VrScripts.com

PHPTracker.co.uk

PHPTracker.co.uk will be selling VrTracker from its own website, this is due to be launched in August 2008. PHPTracker will be totally independent from VrScripts.com. PHPTracker will also be the main support and selling site for VrTracker. All further upgrades will come from PHPTracker. Upgrades will still be available from VrScripts.com, once they come available.

New Data Centre – Server Move

We will be changing our current data centre to a new data centre from July 2008. All our customers will be placed on new Xeon Dual Core servers running either Unix or Windows. The planned changeover will take effect from mid July to the end of August 2008.

We will be introducing a new control panel and webmail, all users will have greater control over there own hosting accounts. We will release more information, once the new servers have been setup and are working correctly.

On behalf of all clients we will be voluntarily offsetting the CO2 emissions caused by our servers in this new data centre.

The data centre currently uses a conservation charity World Land Trust as the organisation to carry out their offset. World Land Trust regenerates degraded forest in Ecuador, working through local partners. Planting native species on land next to standing forest not only takes CO2 out of the atmosphere it also extends existing wildlife reserves, thus preserving threatened habitat and biodiversity.

Nominet Registrar

Virtual Web Designs (Webnetics UK Ltd) has now become a member of Nominet enabling us to register all .uk domains for our customers. Our new IPS TAG will be WEBNETICSUK

We are in the process of writing new software to comply with Nominet Automation, EPP Systems and email PGP Encryption using our servers. Once the software has been completed Nominet will then test to make sure it complies with their rules. Once it has been approved by Nominet. Our IPS Tag will then be made active.

Search Engine Optimisation & Registration

Our search engine optimisation & registration service has also done very well last year and also looks like it going to be just as successful this year. All our customers who have signed up for this service have found their websites doing very well on Google, Yahoo, Msn, etc. We have also increased there Page Ranking and Alexa Ranking. Some of our customers are no longer paying for Google Ad words, saying then a lot of money. We have also increased the number of visitors by up to 65%. How do we know this is by using our own live tracking system. This records live stats in real time, unlike Google stats you don’t have to wait 24 hours for results. This will also tracks PHP websites, as well as static html pages. VrStats has been in beta testing for 1 year now and works very well. Using VrStats has helped us to target our clients websites to the right audience.

New software planned for 2008

Virtual Web Designs has some existing new software planned for this year. We have seen a gap in the market for high quality software at very affordable prices, under cutting a lot of the software supplies for bespoke software by up to ¾ in some cases. How de we achieve this? Over the last three years we have designed and developed software for various clients. We always try to design our software in modular format, so we can quickly put new software packages together at very low prices. This way the client does not pay for the development of new software. We are also planning to sell all our software from our new site VrScripts.com

PHPTracker.co.uk

PHPTracker.co.uk will be selling VrTracker from its own website, this is due to be launched in August 2008. PHPTracker will be totally independent from VrScripts.com. PHPTracker will also be the main support and selling site for VrTracker. All further upgrades will come from PHPTracker. Upgrades will still be available from VrScripts.com, once they come available.

SEO / Page Rankings

Google has updated their page rankings four weeks ago. All our SEO clients websites are now currently averaging at a page ranking of 4 some are at a page ranking of 5. New SEO customers, which where taken on in November / December 2007, who had a page ranking of 0 are now averaging between 2-3.

Our own website is now ranking at positions 1 & 2 or in the top 5 on Google, Yahoo & MSN with our chosen keywords. Please note we do not use Google AD Words.

Tips

We would also like to give some tips to our customers, who do there own websites on SEO, if you what to read the full blog, please visit this link:

1. Ensure that your website has a clear navigational structure. A logical hierarchical navigation, where subsets of content are easily found, is always essential. Never allow the user to get lost by leading them down a blind alley.

2. Adopt a consistent style for any links. Make sure that links you include are treated in the same way by underlining or using a different colour to draw attention to them.

3. Provide text links whenever you use image rollovers If you use image rollovers, make sure you provide text links somewhere on the page, typically at the bottom.

4. Include meaningful 'alt image' tags. Provide succinct, informative alt image tags that accurately reflect the subject of the image and content of the page.

5. Present your page copy carefully. Organise the structure of page copy in a clear and logical way, using headers and sub-headers to break up large sections of text. Pay particular attention to your page titles, including the primary keyword or key phrase that's relevant to that page.

6. Include a site map. The inclusion of a site map should be a basic requirement for any site, particularly for large sites where a 'drill- down' of information is required.

7. If your site uses mod_rewrite to replace .php, please make sure this has been done correctly. Google may say there are too may redirections on the URL’s.

If you create a user-friendly environment, then many of the basic SEO requirements will also have been met.

VrHIPs v0.5 Beta

Virtual Web Designs are near completion of our, latest software called VrHIPS. We are currently in Beta testing and hopeful we will be releasing this software very soon.

VrHIPs is an Online Booking System for Home Information and eConveyancing Packs. The software has been designed in PHP5 and uses a MySQL 5 as the database. This software can be installed into any website design new or existing. We have also designed a complete CMS integrated into VrHIPs. This will allow you to update your existing website pages without changing your current website design. This will save you time and money as you will not need to pay someone else to update or add new pages to your website.

If you would like your customers to book online for a home survey, from Solicitors, Estate Agents and Home users, this will be the idea software for you. Corporate clients like solicitors could be billed via monthly accounts and home users can be billed via PayPal or Cheque.

VrTextADS v1.0 Released

Virtual Web Designs has now released our own bespoke Text Ad Management System called VrTextAds. This has been in the design and development stage for 8 months.

VrTextAds is one of the most powerful text ad management scripts available. It allows you to offer textual ads on your site in a similar fashion to Google / Yahoo, all managed in the backend. Advertisers also have their own control panel to renew their ads, update their ads, monitor clicks / impressions.

VrTextAds will be able to offer text ads on your website to suit any size format, offer ad ranges from week to week, month to month, and much more. VrTextAds offers payment gateway for Paypal with other payment gateways coming soon.

VrCMS v1.0 Released

Virtual Web Designs have now released our own bespoke Content Management System called VrCMS. This has been in the design and development stage for 12 months.

VrCMS is a Content Management System, which allows you to remotely administer your website from anywhere that you have an Internet Connection and a compatible Web-Browser.

VrCMS is completely different in many ways - it allows the end user to control virtually every aspect of their website, whether it be from layout to how the Meta Tags are generated, making it the number one SEO CMS.

VrCMS becomes even more SEO Friendly (Search Engine Optimised), by allowing what we would call friendly urls - no more question marks in the URL (Universal Resource Locater), but virtual page names.

VrShop v1.2 Released

VrShop 1.2 is mainly a bug-fix release and performance improvement. There are a small number of new features and several new payment gateway integrations.

There are two additional template changes we have made for 1.2, one that allows you to separate the offer code input from the payment option selection whilst checking out and the other to display a stock level table for option stock levels on the product page. These are covered in the template changes section.

Customers who have VrShop 1.1 installed on our server(s), will have their versions upgraded to 1.2. Customers who have bought VrShop 1.1, which are installed on external servers, will need to contact us so we can supply this FREE upgrade, or we will be install this upgrade for free.

eCommerce the next generation

Over the past five years we've seen a dramatic increase in the acceptance of online shopping. But this shift in purchasing culture has brought with it a need for the online shopping experience to develop. Sadly, not all retailers have kept pace with this change.

While the successful ones have now generally completed, or are about to complete, their second phase of eCommerce development, many are still running on first generation sites that do little to enhance the consumer experience and our reluctance to spend on new upgrades. These sites aren't designed around an engaging interface that's targeted at how customers behave online. Today this can be a major barrier to purchase.

Last month we decided to launch our own company blog. However, with every company in the world now blogging, we don’t just want to talk about Virtual Web Designs or talk about nothing, we wanted to provide interesting posts that are relevant to the running a company involved in website designing.

JumboAds.biz is an online classified advertising site where you can buy and sell your stuff for free.

We have twelve categories on the site encompassing everything from cars to computers to careers. You could say it's the place to come to sort your life out... you can buy or rent a property in the UK or overseas, find a date, buy a pet or sell the clothes your kid has grown out of. And all for free.

We are planning to launch this site in January 2008, and we will also be selling this software as a generic version from our Vr Range of software.

Webnetics UK website having a makeover

Our parent website is currently having a complete makeover, to reflect our internet activities. This is due to be re-launched in January 2008.

Webnetics UK SecureTrading Partner

Webnetics UK has now become an authorised Secure Trading partner. This means that you will now be able to apply for a merchant account, though us. Secure Trading will also be fully integrated into all our eCommerce software.

• They don't charge extra for using different payment methods - your customers can use VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Switch, Solo, Delta or WAP

Spam

We are please to inform all our customers that we have not had any reported Spam related issues, since August 2007 and no complaints from AOL or Hotmail.

Remember that spam filters can be installed on your account for £30 p.a. This will reduce your spam levels by 98%.

You can also reduce spam by setting your catch-all to delete. This will reduce a large amount of spam. Our spam filters have also been upgraded in October 2007 with new software, hardware and an introducing a Grey Listing, to reflect the changes in spamming habits.

JumboAds.biz is an online classified advertising site where you can buy and sell your stuff for free.

We have twelve categories on the site encompassing everything from cars to computers to careers. You could say it's the place to come to sort your life out... you can buy or rent a property in the UK or overseas, find a date, buy a pet or sell the clothes your kid has grown out of. And all for free.

We are planning to launch this site in January 2008, and we will also be selling this software as a generic version from our Vr Range of software.

Webnetics UK website having a makeover

Our parent website is currently having a complete makeover, to reflect our internet activities. This is due to be re-launched in January 2008.

Webnetics UK has now become an authorised Secure Trading partner. This means that you will now be able to apply for a merchant account, though us. Secure Trading will also be fully integrated into all our eCommerce software.

Search Engine Optimisation & Registration

Our new search engine optimisation & registration service has also done very well this year. All our customers who have signed up for this service have found their websites doing very well on google, yahoo, msn, etc. Also some of our customers are no longer paying for Google Ad words, saying then a lot of money. You will also find some good tips on SEO in our blog.

Spam

We are please to inform all our customers that we have not had any reported Spam related issues, since August 2007 and no complaints from AOL or Hotmail.

Remember that spam filters can be installed on your account for £30 p.a. This will reduce your spam levels by 98%.

You can also reduce spam by setting your catch-all to delete. This will reduce a large amount of spam. Our spam filters have also been upgraded in October 2007 with new software, hardware and an introducing a Grey Listing, to reflect the changes in spamming habits.
